eHealth Ontario is the organization responsible for implementing the government's eHealth agenda and creating an electronic health record for all Ontarians by 2015. The Systems Engineer will be the resource on various types of projects and maintenance support in partnership with the Database Administrator, Technical Consultant and Technical Architects. Your Chance to Shine Specific Accountabilities: · Evaluate the feasibility of the architecture and technologies related to a business change and ensure consistency and integration with existing and planned architectures as well as business strategies · Participate in preparation of architectural changes, solution design and technical specifications · Develop, code, install, test, debug, and document applications using appropriate processes, tools and standards · Under the guidance of Technical Consultant and DBA, design, develop, test, and implement new solutions as well as enhancements to existing solutions; plan, execute, and manage the integration of new applications into existing systems and software throughout the enterprise · Collaborate with Technical Consultant, DBA, business analysts, architects, testers and system owners in the testing of newly developed software applications · Assist management, DBA and Technical Consultant in preparation of effort estimates for projects and releases, including high level analysis of impact to other activities and/or systems · Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing applications and restore normal operations in a timely and accurate fashion · Carry out unit testing, system testing and integration testing tasks · Provide technical expertise, guidance and training to more junior team members · Work with internal IT groups, vendors and other third parties to define/design information technology solutions to business problems · Research and make recommendations on products and services in support of procurement and development efforts · Ensure that solutions are in compliance with and adhere to eHealth Ontario standards and protocols with respect to privacy and security of information · Adhere to eHealth Ontario processes · Perform Rotational On-call duties · Occasionally, working outside of normal business hours, and on weekends, is necessary to accommodate system implementations, maintenance, and responses to outages Your Skills Make the Difference Education:
· Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or applicable business discipline or equivalent from a recognized institution Experience:
· Minimum 5+ years experience in large scale data architecture, BI and Data projects · Experience in creating design artifacts and solutions which adhere to Software Development Lifecycle methodology · Excellent communication skills, to liaise between internal technical and external client business teams · Development experience with hands-on project experience to the enterprise level in a healthcare setting · Practical experience with MS SQL Server 2005 and 2008 Implementation including stored procedures, functions, triggers and complex database designs , with knowledge of High Availability principles, Database Replication, SQL Server Service Broker, XML, and MS SQL Server Integration Services · Practical experience with windows batch programming, Erwin Data Modeling tool, Stored Procedures optimization, index creation and tuning, and database performance tuning · Strong understanding of agile development practices Technical Knowledge & Skills: · Practical experience with n-tier architecture, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET(incl. 2005), MS SQL Server 2005/2008, .NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5/4.0, ADO.NET, XML/XSLT, Enterprise Application Blocks, OOP, Web Services, Window Services, Crystal Reports, HTML/JavaScript, Visual Studio 2010 · Knowledge of third party tools like Red-Gate SQL Developer, DbFit is an asset · Strong understanding of agile development practices · Understanding of Project Management concepts · Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture · Knowledge of Health care systems, HL7 is an asset · Knowledge of IT Security principals is an asset · Knowledge of J2EE platform is an asset · Knowledge of Data Power is an asset · Knowledge of TFS2010 is an asset As a condition of employment, this position is subject to the successful completion of the following pre-employment conditions: 1.
